A smiling woman with long dark hair and glasses looks directly at the camera. Her arms are crossed in front of her. She is standing in the sunlight in front of a building.

Nicole was born and raised in the Bay Area, has two adult children, and attended Stanford (BA, American Studies) and UC Berkeley (MBA).

She is an expert in workplace diversity and spent most of her 28 year career working in Silicon Valley.

In her many travels, she found one thing to be consistent: where people made thoughtful use of cannabis, conversations got deeper, richer, and more idealistic—especially across difference.

She’s had some of the best conversations of her life while smoking weed with brilliant people from all walks of life. So she thought she’d invite some of them to chat, and is inviting you, too.

Why “mota”?

Gold divider.png

Cannabis is both deeply personal and political for Nicole, as her life’s work is on race, justice, and decolonization. The name of the show, “Mota” (Spanish slang for “weed”) is recognition and reclamation of the history of cannabis, a plant medicine that indigenous people used for thousands of years before colonialism, the war on drugs, and the prison industrial complex ravaged communities of color. This history and present day reality spurs her commitment to equity, access, decarceration and abolition.

On a personal level, Nicole works with cannabis in a range of ways, from medicinal and therapeutic to deeply creative and spiritual. Cannabis has helped her deepen relationships, prioritize wellness, tap into creative flow, iterate on big ideas, ease stress, manage depression, explore ancestral connection, focus, rest, and much more. Whether or not cannabis is part of your practice, all are welcome to participate in this low-key, low-pressure environment.
